Steve Tucker gives the first response to the Report on VOI .

We have taken Steve’s comment and made it into a post.

This is a very helpful response and very accurate in its attempt to clear the murky waters of VOI. I was a member of VOI for 6 years and I believe that for an ‘outsider’ you have done a great job in trying to make some kind of sense out of the wheeling and dealing of this ‘ministry’.

VOI will always pass the buck on controversy so longs as the bucks are coming into the Mother church. I am not surprised that you have now been given the silent treatment, as the accountability VOI talk of only goes as far as the Mother church and her leadership. They refuse to have any type of accountability to outsiders, Christian groups or secular organizations, as all that really matters is the ‘vision’. When I use the term ‘Vision’, I am referring to ‘divine revelation’ given to Sonny by God. The vision (which is two fold) comes from scriptures from Isaiah 45:2-3 & Isaiah 54:2-3

Isaiah 45:2-3King James Version (KJV)
2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

This scripture was the heart beat of the ministry for years, and in many ways caught my heart in wanting to serve the needy, hurting and broken of Kingscross, London. Then at the VOI world conference in 1993, Sonny introduced us to the second stage of the vision, which was taken from Isaiah 54:2-3

Isaiah 54:2-3King James Version (KJV)
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

The requirements for fulfilling this stage of the vision were to plant 1000 churches by the year 2000. This never happened despite the selling of ‘Vision 2000’ merchandise and the premature sending out of couples into cities. This alone proves Sonny to be a false prophet. I emailed Sonny asking him to reimburse monies given by struggling churches and then to repent for selling us a false vision. I got a reply from Saul Garcia stating that ‘Vision 2000’ was a ministry goal and not a mandate; therefore it didn’t need to be accomplished on the year 2000 with a 1000 churches.

VOI are masters at moving the goalposts and deflecting blame on ‘bad apples within’, rather than holding their hands up and humbly admitting that they allowed things to go unchecked, which in turn has resulted in vulnerable people being taken advantage of. Paul Lloyd (as far as I could remember) is a good man, with a very genuine heart to help people, but he is being used as a puppet for the greater cause. Does he really believe that he has authority to sort the mess out in Ireland? He can only do as he is told, and right now that is to remain silent. I would meet with any leader from VOI to discuss the issues at hand, but like most cults, contact with ex members is prohibited. I call upon Sonny, Paul and the European leaders to put your heads above the parapet and meet with those from DI and for once do what is best for the gospel and testimony of Christ.
