VOI has failed to keep its word to respond to the issues surrounding the abuse of its members

VOI

Dialogue Ireland along with the general public was appalled by the revelations on the Prime Time documentary back in 2013.

Towards the end of 2014 we embarked on a process of engagement with Paul Lloyd who had he claimed assumed the leadership of the Irish work and see if we could gain an understanding of what happened. We wanted to see if the abuse was as Paul suggested the result of a rotten apple in the barrel or a more systemic problem,  and to see if there is a difference between the ministry run by Andy Valdez and the restructured VOI. We met with Paul Lloyd in late December and hoped this statement would lead to a transparent and clear response. We expected a reply within a month, and hoped this earlier statement would lead to a transformed organisation.

We accepted that Paul needed more time when he was ill soon after me met. However, whenever we requested him to honour his commitment we were told he was just getting onto a flight or coming back from some foreign destination.

We are hereby giving notice that the report we produced for VOI will be published soon and we intend to give our considered opinion as to their current situation and interpret their failure to respond. We have formed the view they can’t respond because the the structure of VOI is in fact Papal Pentecostalism which explains why nothing can be done.

We have also come to the conclusion that there was never an intention to reply. Finally in April we sent a paper outlining our understanding of the VOI structure worldwide, and some basic questions as to their current practice in Ireland. The former we asked Paul to forward to his HQ and the latter we asked him to respond to. We expected some of these points could be answered in a few days, and the other we asked him to take a month to get a response from his leadership. We also came to the conclusion that in the end Paul has no authority at all and in practice has no delegated authority to address any questions hence his ongoing excuses and and silence.

  2. ‘Are there any people from the old regime still in ministry or are they in any position of authority in Ireland?’

The answer to this question is yes, people from the old regime are still in ministry.

  6. I must say you actually “assume” wrong. Your comments are not only erroneous but very bigoted as a “watchdog”. The general over view of your site looks like a grasping at straws from every article I have read. It reminds me of an article from The Onion taken seriously like the ex FIFA vice president. Is this too a satirical blog?

I must say regurgitating old issues and not dealing with the Elephant in the room seems to be a recurring issue with Dialogue Ireland.

This post tells you we are still waiting for a response from VOI to issues agreed in December. It produced an immediate panicked response and equal disappearance. What is the elephant in room from your perspective?
Even though it is a pain in the neck we believe in due process and will not complete this process till we are clear we have done justice to all concerned.

I’m afraid this site is losing focus on its initial mission and values and should therefore cease operating as a charity.

Perhaps you could explain from your perspective how this happening. A lot of generalisation and little substance.

Why does this continue when obvious corrective matters have been taken and too make matters worse the main instigator remains.

I assume you are here referring to your involvement with VOI and you mean that the group that was thrown out namely Freedom Ministries or Cupcake sales is the issue. If it was that simple we would not have received a call to my mobile this morning asking me as VOI to assist them. They had got my number from a major drug addiction centre?
We are not clear as yet about the issues you refer to as having being addressed otherwise we would have posted them. In fact we have not got a clear answer as yet.
These are the issues we are waiting for an answer before we can end this saga.
    1. What are the lessons learnt from this fiasco?
    2. Is VOI working with other like minded Christians in Dublin? Other than a Christmas carols can you show any examples of cooperation?
    3. How has addressed the issues around fundraising and the use of social welfare shown in the programme?
    4. Is the use of the name VOI now a hindrance to your work as the public do not know whether you are the same as the old gang?
    5. Are there any people from the old regime still in ministry or are they in any position of authority in Ireland?
    6. Did you consider closing down the work here and reopening with a totally new team?
7.Why have you located a house a few miles from Tiglin and did you consult with them as your leadership met them in March? Have you tried to meet other Christians working in Ireland to both explain or answer questions they have? We are still waiting for major answers from your HQ in the States.

DI please get on the ground and please stop regurgitating, it’s getting boring

It is clear you would like us to go away hopefully now you will understand the problem is not just Andy Valdez but the very structures of the organisation. We will when we have completed this process publish our report but in the meantime we are in the air and when you are over the target you get flak!

  9. DI has just received a call from Paul Lloyd concerning this report delivered 30 minutes ago. It is too little too late. Paul refers to a call made during my daughter’s graduation. I texted him and later told him by email that if we had not heard from him by Wed 27th May when the DI Trust was having its meeting we would be moving towards publishing our reply. We heard nothing and last night we moved NOT to reply but giving notice we intend to do so. Paul phoning at 7 AM on a Sunday morning and acting as if we have made assumptions is in reality quite ridiculous. We will study his five page reply before moving forward after the bank holiday weekend.

  10. This statement is misleading I’m afraid. A considered reply has been sent to Dialogue Ireland. When I phoned you to explain the process I was taking regarding answering the report that was given me, you refused to take my call. You have, unfortunately, made conclusions based upon your own assumptions and not on the information I have given you. Please state the information correctly.

    Thanks

    Rev. Paul Lloyd
