Pastor Tom, Thomas or Tommy Cooney has gift of bi-location

Do you know Tommy?

Yes we know Pastor Thomas. He used to be involved with The Living Word Church in Galway. He then took over the Abundant Life Church Galway when Kevin Sanford did a runner leaving a massive bill for non payment of rent. He then allied himself to Brendan Hade in Dublin and the Church was renamed Victory Galway. Now with the collapse of the Crock of Gold Church in Firhouse they have renamed themselves Connect Church.

TC

Now suddenly I get a call from Dundalk from a bewildered citizen who will remain nameless telling me that Grace Church had closed and that suddenly Pastor Cooney was opening a new outfit called Connect Church, Dundalk. So is Tommy using our new great motorways to operate in two locations? Or is this a holding pattern till the dust settles in Dundalk in regard to Grace Church? Is he coming as part of the biblical receivers? After what happened in Galway where Tom Cooney was brought in by Hade after he had taken over Abundant Life in Galway. Do we have a kind of pseudo takeover here to divert the new Charities Regulator?

Some connections are in order to use a pun. Tom Cooney’s sister is married to Hassan Boyle. Hassan Boyle was at one time connected to Victory Christian Church and Brendan Hade. I met him at a meeting when they were based in Westland Row. He obviously had a falling out but he brought the idea of a Christian School to Dundalk as there had been one in Dublin and it was in the Industrial Estate until the Fire regulations kicked in. I understand it has closed again. There was also a Starbucks Cafe in the Industrial Estate attached to the Church. It closed on Christmas Eve without explanation. Starbucks was a feature of Victory in Firhouse? Where is this leading you tell me?

“So have ya time for a coffee?”
“Yeah………where?”

Elvis has left the building!

So here it is folks, our last day
I’d just like to acknowledge our wonderful staff.
Our original manager Spencer Cantu, a real gentleman, Claire Copas, Charlotte Murtagh, Carrie McCoy (who was responsible for all the young men coming in!) Nathan ‘pretty boy’ Cooney (who was responsible for all the young ladies coming in!), Michael Narainsamy, the ever cheerful Megan Cooney and of late Danielle, short yet sweet. And not to forget Dearbhla Cooney who held it all together in spite of us! Thank you all sooo much guys, it was a pleasure! Now you’re all fired!! Lol.
End of an era…….you might say!

Why has Pastor Conney opened up in Dundalk? He is from the town, but is he closing down Galway and moving home? We hope the public by leaving comments here will let us know?

Since the poster is not clear “how to be rich” I can only go on how ‘charities’ of this nature have operated in the past.

Pastor Hassan n Lucy Boyle have absolutely nothing to do with Tom Cooney starting a church in Dundalk

Again I must ask you where did we say he had a connection? We asked the question, and you are denying there is a connection. Is Tom seeing a weakness in the collapse of the Church trying to make hay while the sun shines and bilocating? Explain what is going on?

as a member of Grace church I can say without doubt that pastor Hassan is the best in his field,

You are totally entitled to preserve your anonymity but if you are a member why do you not identify yourself? If he is the best in his field why is his Church going to the wall?

n tom’s jealousy of that fact is known all over,

I had never heard about it, tell us more.

I think you can see without question that his work in Dundalk for the last 28 yrs can bear witness to that n his lifestyle n reputation in Dundalk proves it…

    1. Lifestyle? Does he live in an average house like the ordinary people of around him.
    2. Does he travel often to foreign destinations?
    3. Does his car represent the life style of a preacher of the good news?
    4. How has the Church addressed the false gospel of wealth that has destroyed Abundant Life and Victory?
    5. Who decided what his salary was and was his congregation party to it?
    6. Dundalk was hit by a terrible recession, what role has the Church played in bringing good news to the poor both materially and spiritually?
    7. Has he paid the rent due on the rented property to the Comiskey brothers?
These questions will help to test your statements which are a little opaque.

On the other hand tom’s does not…

I am a little uncomfortable about you attacking Tom using the cloak of anonymity. You seem to feel that you enhance Hassan by crapping all over Tom. May I suggest you might detach from Tom and focus on answering the questions posed. On this hang all the law and the profits.

  5. Anonymous A, you will note I am changing your name to Anonymous A as the person also using Anonymous has a different IP and might be a different person.
I should point out that my source who was present when this sermon was given told me that Hassan backtracked quite a bit following this talk the next week. I can’t confirm if this is the case or not. However, could you look through your podcasts and send us a link to the talk and we will publish it for the public to make up their own mind.

In the meantime could you give us your views on the Manifesto that Jesus preached on in this regard.
    Luke Ch 4:
The Temptation of Jesus.* 1a Filled with the holy Spirit,* Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert 2for forty days,* to be tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over he was hungry.b 3The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’”c 5Then he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant. 6The devil said to him, “I shall give to you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I may give it to whomever I wish.d 7All this will be yours, if you worship me.” 8Jesus said to him in reply, “It is written:

‘You shall worship the Lord, your God,

and him alone shall you serve.’”e

9* Then he led him to Jerusalem, made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10for it is written:

‘He will command his angels concerning you,

    to guard you,’f

    11and:

‘With their hands they will support you,

lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”g

12Jesus said to him in reply, “It also says, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.’”h 13* When the devil had finished every temptation,i he departed from him for a time.

The Beginning of the Galilean Ministry. 14j Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread* throughout the whole region.k 15He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.

The Rejection at Nazareth.* l 16He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom* into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read 17and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,*

    because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.m

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,

19and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

20Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. 21He said to them, “Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”* 22And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They also asked, “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?”n 23He said to them, “Surely you will quote me this proverb, ‘Physician, cure yourself,’ and say, ‘Do here in your native place the things that we heard were done in Capernaum.’”* 24And he said, “Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place. 25* Indeed, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah when the sky was closed for three and a half years and a severe famine spread over the entire land.o 26* It was to none of these that Elijah was sent, but only to a widow in Zarephathp in the land of Sidon. 27Again, there were many lepers in Israel during the time of Elisha the prophet; yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”q 28When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury. 29They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong. 30But he passed through the midst of them and went away.

  7. To Angie,
The “how to be rich” series actually had nothing to do with money if you must know. It was all about realising how rich we really are in life. How true wealth is about the people in our lives, having a bed to sleep in, health, a fresh new day of life, etc. and not to focus on money as a means of determining how rich we are. But good job on jumping to conclusions ;)

  8. If you must know.. Hassan and Lucy have nothing to do with Tom and Maria.

I assume here you are not referring to he fact that Tom and Hassan are brothers in law? Are you suggesting that Tom and Hassan have no links in regard to their ministry in the past or in the present? You are a little unclear as to what you are implying?

Tom staring his own church in Dundalk has been his plan for years.

It would seem natural as that he comes from Dundalk. However, it would seem to be a problem for his congregants in Galway. He is not able to serve two masters. Is he going to leave Galway?

He has tried several times the ought the years and it has always failed.

So it seems you are not too happy about him coming? He always fails. Sounds pretty grim for his future in Dundalk?

Tom’s affiliation lies with Brendan Hade.

I see your attempt to divert. It was with Hade and now it is with his Connect Church, he is back to being a sole trader. Hassan’s affiliation was also with Hade as I met him in dealing with a pastoral situation nearly 20 years ago. There are so many aspects in GC which are closely related to Victory’s outlook.

  9. “Get to know Jesus”
    “How to be Rich”

With Tom’s connections it appears to be another set up to appeal to the gullible ‘nice’ people of Dundalk to give to God and the greedy to benefit because they know how to milk them.
