After a relatively long period we have again received a lengthy statement from an employee of the company and have been able to verify it is genuine. This is an extract of what appears to be confirmation of what we had being reporting since 2012.
Just to let you know the company is as bad as ever with Georgina Dolan completely controlling and influencing John Boyle which has made him completely paranoid and unworkable.
We will be publishing further insights from those working in Boylesports to expand on this initial comment.
Aine Coffey has been getting these interviews with Boyle but he keeps changing the script. Here is the THE BUSINESS INTERVIEW AINE COFFEY did for the Sunday Times January 30, 2011. Read through it to get his ideas clearly in your head.
A small extract:
Another wake-up call came in 2002, when he attended a two-week mind power seminar given by Tony Quinn, the controversial ‘lifestyle guru’, that “lit my light”. As far as “mind technology” goes, he is both believer and evangelist. “All his philosophy made sense to me. I would say it is the best thing I have ever done. The key thing I took out of it is your thoughts create your reality and if you have control of your mind, you can achieve that goal. “I always had this understanding there was a power inside of me taking care of me and looking after me and I could ask it for anything.”
Here is John Boyle on Tony Quinn’s web site:
It is this type of stuff that Boyle has been speaking about for the past decade and it is a bit strange to claim he has no connection to Quinn?
This was the post that led to such an interest from workers in Boylesports:
Following that interview there was a gap till we come to June 2012.
When he is confronted about the courses he denies there is any connection to Quinn thus:
Here is our take on it:
BOYLESPORTS TO KEEP GURU OUT OF MIND
Aine Coffey Sunday Times Business January 20, 2013
BOYLESPORTS, the Dundalk based bookmaker led by John Boyle, has launched an overhaul of its training after controversy over compulsory “mindfulness” courses introduced last year.
Here you will note an attempt to deflect by using the term “mindfulness.” This is a clever attempt to change the compulsory “mind technology” into a mild mannered “mindfulness” course. These are very popular and have become part of the package from Yoga, Pilates and other forms of meditation. Tony Bates is a good example of this: http://www.institute-for-mindfulness.eu/faculty.html
Here as a means to deflect from the current controversy within his company. Boyle is taking the positivity associated with “mindfulness” to mask the actual literal reality which something he has stated over the past ten years namely go on an Educo seminar. We have had family members whose relative went to his private home and had these courses. They were not his own courses, but rather he was trying to recruit people for Quinn’s Educo courses. It is well known that himself and Imelda Farrell originally from Kildare and a strong presence in Cork for Quinn advocated them at that location. Finally John Boyle and Georgina Dolan were to be found in the Tony Quinn’s Dundalk shop so this belated distancing seems to be more to do with the effects of the bad PR resulting from forcing his staff to do Dolan’s particular type of course, not the kind of courses which are a requirement of every company where various skills are promoted to enhance the business.
The bookie has brought in an outside agency to review its training.
Some staff staff and executives have left and possibly this is a reality check more likely window dressing as we have have no evidence that he has publically distanced himself from Quinn.
Staff were told of the development in a letter from Boyle last Friday.
We have staff leaving comments all the time not one of them has mentioned that they received this letter. We would be grateful if anyone who received one scanned it for us and we will display it here.
The “mindfulness” courses sparked controversy in light of Boyle’s previous public endorsement of the “mind technology” ideas espoused by the controversial guru Tony Quinn, and because the course trainer had been linked to Quinn.
Around the time of the publication of the Sunday Times article we were approached privately, by a legal firm representing the company seeking to have all the posts taken down. We obviously would not consider this. Boylesports did not use the method which usually works of sending us a letter threatening legal action for the likely reason they did not have a legal leg to stand on. This was followed by a call from from an executive from the company who has since left to take down material. This attempt also failed.
We advised commenters on our blog that they should not take out their anger by taking making personal attacks on John Boyle and members of his family. Naturally with the failure to attract competent executives the business which is private was increasing becoming a family fiefdom. We obviously, have no knowledge of the companies operations, but people who work there know exactly what is going on.
We also explained unlike other sites here on WordPress when one makes a comment it immediately goes up and can only be taken down if brought to our attention or we happen to notice it coming in.
We had further reports from staff, but by the end of the year 2012 the site was relatively quiet.
However, early in 2013 we were approached by someone acting on behalf of Boyle to try to get us to totally take down the posts regarding Boylesports. We flatly refused to even give this any thought, believing our informants knew better than this paid hand what was going on. It was clear that the publicity was doing harm to John Boyle but there is no evidence that the company suffered any loss.
In any case we agreed to do an extensive review of the comments and at great expense to us in terms of our time and resources we came to an agreed editorial position and acted as we had agreed and amended hundreds of comments.
We understood that the person/s concerned had after a 3 month period completed this assignment and had moved on. We are now reliably informed by staff that these persons have actually taken credit for the fact that our site has nearly been silent on the issue for nearly 2 years and has now got a permanent role with the company.
Nothing could be further from the truth and we had no doubt that the idea of Georgina Dolan was no longer active was in fact not the case. We obviously, could publish anything till we heard from company employees
We can not confirm until John Boyle does that he has no connection with Tony Quinn now. Also Georgina Dolan though she has a long association with Quinn, does have her own ideas. so we are not here arguing that there is a direct influence by Quinn at this stage, but no evidence has been introduced which shows he has no influence.
