Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine wish to be reconciled with their mother

DI was in Thurles last week and met with Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine. In light of the statement made by the House of Prayer we will first comment on the statement and then propose mediation to resolve this family dispute.

“I wish to make the following points in relation to the article which appeared in the Sunday World dated 1 Dec 2013.

    1. I have visited the House of Prayer only on six occasions in 2013 not every Saturday as the article stated.                             DI phoned the family home last week and found that her other son Tony seems to act as a kind of gate keeper. He informed me that his mother Mary was sick. This was confirmed by her sister Margaret who now resides in Achill. In fact the nature of her illness is such that she only gets to Knock on the bus that travels onto Achill every week. So if she does go her children would not be aware as they have not communicated with her for a number of years. It was not difficult for them to come to the conclusion they did.  Hence Mary would be too ill to go the distance to Achill. What I pick up from Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine is that they feel that the HofP has so taken over their mother’s life they feel they have lost her. So it is not the amount of times that Mary has gone up to Achill that really concerns them but the loss of affection they feel. Their going to the Sunday World was a cry for help.
    2. My going to the House of Prayer is not a reason for any dispute in my family.                                                                              Now it is clearly the case that Mary’s going to the HofP is the cause of the family break down. It is not that their mother goes to Achill that troubles them but that they seem to have no communication with her. They in reality do not care where she goes once she is not under external influence. If Mary means that as an adult she has a right to go wherever she likes they would entirely agree. They however, believe that ever since she has been going there she is not the mother they knew.
    3. I have never made any donations to the House of Prayer in Achill as the article seemed eager to imply.                             Again with so many properties coming Christina’s way and the claims that Christina’s income seems to be way beyond what a person who is dedicated to God should enjoy, there is the fear by her her children that Mary might hand over more than she should. Others have asked this simple question?   I have had an independent source confirm this hence I put this question to her. Has Mary ever given any money, cheques or instruments or property to Christina or Fr McGinnity?
    4. The untruthful and vile headline used for the article referred to me as a “vulnerable and brainwashed pensioner”, I am nothing of the kind as my family doctor has verified. (Doctor’s certificate supplied to House of Prayer.)”                                                                                                             Before answering this point may I ask Mary did she consult with her own solicitor before agreeing to sign this document? First of all a family doctor would not have the competence to decide whether Mary was in fact brainwashed or under influence. A psychologist or expert in influence would have to make that decision. The role of the family doctor is to refer, not make expert judgements they have no training to make. Every one of us is vulnerable, so to say she is not vulnerable is just not within his competence to suggest. Finally it is absolutely, puzzling to supply a certificate to the party which is involved in the dispute. The document needs to be published in order to for it to be independently evaluated.  Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine would like to have an independent mediator assist them to be reconciled with their mother Mary. DI would not be regarded as independent by the HofP, so perhaps someone like Fr McGinnity might contact Bro Eoin Waldren from Bolton Abbey to agree to this and I would inform Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine as to possible mediators.

“House of Prayer turned our mum into a fanatic….”

By JIM GALLAGHER. Sunday World, Dec 1st, 2013

A BROTHER and sister have revealed how the cult House of Prayer on Achill Island has torn their family apart.

Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine claim their mother has refused to talk to them in over two years because they are opposed to Christina Gallagher’s organisation. They say their mum Mary (73), was once a happy woman devoted to her family who would go on holiday every year with her three children.

But now the Tipperary pensioner, who regularly travels to Achill, walks past them in the street.

Ted (50), also suspects his mother has handed over a lot of money to the self-styled visionary, who leads a millionaire’s lifestyle with a collection of stunning mansions, all uncovered by the Sunday World over the past five years.

When Mary’s husband, also Ted, died she was left comfortably off with some land, a hardware shop which has since been sold and two holiday villas in Alicante, Spain. “Dad never owed anyone anything. He did not leave her poor,” said Ted. “She was very vulnerable at the time and the perfect target for Gallagher. She sucked her in. We don’t know what has happened to the houses in Spain, but they are locked up and not being used.“

Ted said things began to change when their dad died in November 2002. “Before that, mother had only gone to the House of Prayer a few times. Her neighbour was always asking her to go, but my dad did not trust it.“

Katherine said: “Mum was at me and I went once, but I remember telling her ‘never ask me again.” I did not think Gallagher was genuine. I remember sitting outside and seeing these bodyguards who all had soft-top cars. “I said to mum, ‘what is this? They are not following any religion, look at the cars they are driving’. She told me to ‘shush’. A man came over and told me to put away my phone as no photographs were allowed. I was about to take a picture, but they said they would confiscate my phone and put me out.“

Katherine remembered that Gallagher came outside for only a few seconds and made a little wave before disappearing. “She did not even say anything. I said to mum that Christina was supposed to pray with everyone, but mum said she was too busy. Mum did not talk to me for three weeks after that. I said, ‘don’t ask me again, I will drive you up, but I am not going in’.
Opposed

“She is giving money all right. She was buying rosary beads and I told her to buy them in Knock, not there. They did not mean anything to me.” The siblings said two of their mum’s brothers were totally opposed to the House of Prayer, but a sister was also a follower. “Mum won’t talk to her brothers. You just can’t talk to her about it,” said Katherine.

“Mum has not spoken to me in three years. I was coming out of the filling station one morning and she was walking past. I said, ‘hello mother’, and she walked right past me.“

Ted said local farmers told him that at one stage his mother was thinking of building a House of Prayer on her land, but nothing came of it.
“My mum is fanatical. It is pure bull***t. You just don’t talk to her about Achill,” said Ted, who sells milking machines and is well known in Tipperary for raising €88,000 for local charities with sponsored cycle rides.

Mum-of-three Katherine added: “She always came away with us every summer. Mum used to be great fun.“
Revelations

Ted said the bus left Tipperary for Achill every Saturday morning at 5.30am and his mother would be on it. Sometimes there were just 13 other passengers, whereas before the Sunday World revelations about Gallagher’s mansions in Malahide, City West Dublin, Ballina, Newport and the UK, the bus was packed. Just last month we revealed how the daughter of another of Gallagher’s obsessed fans said the House of Prayer had destroyed her family as well. She said her mother had lost half her body weight with constant fasting and would say up to 100 rosaries a day.

Gallagher claims to get regular messages about the end of the world from the Virgin Mary and Jesus. Anyone who contributes to her cause or attends the House of Prayer will be saved, she claims. Millions of euro have been pumped into her coffers and she has built five Houses of Prayer in America since opening the Achill HQ 20 years ago.

Dialogue Ireland publishes Statements about Achill House of Prayer

When Dr Michael Neary came to the office of Archbishop of Tuam, his proposed changes rendered the HoP inoperable, unable to be as Our Lady intended it. The people who had paid for the HoP to be put in place implored CG keep it open . The only way to do so, operating as Our Lady intended, was for it to become a private house. And so it did and it complied with the Archbishop’s wishes about the sacraments. Mass and Confessions are not held there, only the Rosary, and other prayers of the Catholic Church. The Archbishop is not in any argument with the HoP.

However, the Archbishop failed the people of Ireland and the Church when he didn’t set up the proper ecclesiastical investigation following his receipt of the testimonies of supernatual phenomena in 2000.

The Catholic Church did not ban itself from serving communion,

Perhaps you might wish to rewrite this sentence. It is currently incoherent. what I think you are trying to say is that the House of Prayer was not banned from holding communion. You seem to have forgotten that Christina herself closed down the HofP. It was Fr McG who removed the eucharist from Achill.

The office of Tuam, which is held by Archbishop Neary requested mass to be only said by a permitted few under his permission.

What I believe you are speaking about is that the Bishop wanted to have a chaplain installed from the diocese and that the clergy from Achill should say mass at the House. This was rejected and as a result the threw the rattle out of the pram. Will address that when I do some commentary on the statements from Tuam.

Dialogue Ireland publishes Statements about Achill House of Prayer

So being obedient, the house of prayer to this day still abides to Archbishop Neary’s request.

No Christina wanted Fr GM to be her adviser and she was requested to set up an association which would have brought the finances under Diocesan control. Not that they would spend the money, but would see that it was being used for charitable purposes. She has been totally disobedient.

And no, the press has no hold on FR or CG but God’s work will not be stopped.

You seem to be totally fixated on the press. Are you not aware that they brought these issues to the Press Council and lost every case they brought.

It is clear by now it will never be stopped, try as ye might ye only bring justice down upon yourselves. All of what Our Lady told Christina is upon the world – for example the torando in Roscommon that hit the sheds of ex-director Bridie Conneally is just a taste of what is coming to all who work hard trying to bring down the house of prayer. You only bring justice down upon yourself.

First of all this indicates a sub Christian and semi pagan view of God. God so loved the world so that who ever believes in him should not perish. CG is trying to use the threat of judgement to get people under her influence. She has not an item of Christian theology in her arsenal. You are obviously totally brainwashed in the idea that you would wish evil on anyone made in the image of God. I can confirm that you are mistaken about Bridie’s property. No such tornado struck it. I would view her as a most courageous woman who when she saw what was going on walked. The current directors are like the youth that went down trying to save the German Reich. There are no other directors if these guys go.
I will return to your other comments which reveal someone who has no idea of grace or the love of God. For you it is hell, retribution and chaos.
DI has no interest in any of the material benefits, that CG has acquired. Rather we are in touch with now over 30 people who have lost a loved one to what appears to be a pyramid Marian scam.

  5. To bring it back to the issue in hand. The negative effects of the HoP have been seen in many families across the country. The reality of the HoP does not unfortunately feature in it’s testimonies. Family life is been irrevocably damage by the HoP.

This brings to mind the family in Dublin of 3 brothers, who through the evils of our society were drawn into drug abuse. One brother died of a drug overdose, the second died through drug abuse, the third after a visit to the HoP gave public testimony how his life changed completely for the better. He said that at the HOP “immediately, and inexplicably he instantly and totally lost his dependence on drugs and instead gained a total conversion. He prays and goes daily to Mass and Holy Communion and has joined the Legion of Mary.

Your attitude is so cultic. You spout on and on about how many people, in my opinion, are duped by the H of P and refer to family mental, physical and spiritual health issues as “a few dubious stories to the contrary” are from people who have had the courage to speak out about their experiences and how the H of P has damaged family relationships. They are not afraid of the press, Gallagher and McGinnity are.

Well, I’m afraid Treasa that the ‘100 rosaries’ story was not credible in my book and while I hope that Ted and Katherine find resolution to their situation, it would appear that their mother is denying it has anything to do with the House of Prayer. All families have their difficulties.

The countrywide effects of the House of Prayer to me are much more far reaching. They are the lasting healings, and the peace and joy and friendship, and the conversion of the young people trapped in drink and drugs whose lives are now transformed after a visit to the house of prayer. The woman who was able to forgive life-long enemies, the people who have come back to confession and communion after 30 years or more. The couples who after visiting the house of prayer decided to get married. That is not even to mention the big physical healings of people who were dying or in serious illness and suffering…. this is the wide reaching effects of the House of Prayer felt throughout this country.

This lady attends the HoP and her family are concerned about this issue. This is what needs to be discussed not cars v buses. It is the destination not the mode of transport that is in question.

I recognise this lady as someone who visits Our Lady Queen of Peace House of Prayer and have noticed that she is very devout in her prayers which at the HoP are the everyday prayers used by any practising Catholic. ‘Vulnerable’ is not a word I would use to describe Mary, quite the opposite. She is a strong-minded woman who will stand her ground and is very capable of holding her own. I notice she drives herself to the House of Prayer and have no doubt that she is praying for her children and the persecutors of this holy work, as Our Lady Queen of Peace would desire.

My going to the House of Prayer is not a reason for any dispute with my family.

    Commentary:

Now it is clearly the case that Mary’s going to the HofP is the cause of the family break down. It is not that their mother goes to Achill that troubles them but that they seem to have no communication with her. They in reality do not care where she goes once she is not under external influence. If Mary means that as an adult she has a right to go wherever she likes they would entirely agree. They however, believe that ever since she has been going there she is not the mother they knew.

I have never made any donations to the House of Prayer in Achill as the article seemed eager to imply.

    Commentary:
Again with so many properties coming Christina’s way and the claims that Christina’s income seems to be way beyond what a person who is dedicated to God should enjoy, there is the fear by her her children that Mary might hand over more than she should. Others have asked this simple question? I have had an independent source confirm this hence I put this question to her. Has Mary ever given any money, cheques or instruments or property to Christina or Fr McGinnity?

The untruthful and vile headline used for the article referred to me as a “vulnerable and brainwashed pensioner”,I am nothing of the kind as my family doctor has verified. (Doctor’s certificate supplied to House of prayer.)”

    Mary Loughman

Commentary: Before answering this point may I ask Mary did she consult with her own solicitor before agreeing to sign this document? DI would not be regarded as independent by the HofP, so perhaps someone like Fr McGinnity might contact Bro Eoin Waldren from Bolton Abbey to agree to this and I would inform Ted Loughman and his sister Katherine as to possible mediators.

dialogueireland, do you think Mary Loughman’s solicitor will be interested in seeing how you have misrepresented her statement? Dishonestly putting her signature at the bottom of your hogwash is distortion. zzzzxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Don’t worry I’ll send them a copy anyway.

I am sure that Fr McGinnity does not read blogs so appealing to him here is only a sensational attempt to discuss the plight of this family and to discredit the hop, Mrs G and FMG.

How does seeking reconciliation between estranged parties constitute an attempt to discredit the HofP.
I am sure Fr McGinnity does not do blogs, but you guys see him regularly or you can call him on his mobile or when he is in Achill tomorrow. I have written, I will not be involved. I wrote,

I specifically suggested a Cistercian monk Eoin Waldren as the contact point and suggested Fr McGinnity might make contact with him. This was for the obvious reason that I would be viewed as not being independent.

This a Catholic monk, nothing to do with DI just a means to finding a resolution. You are more interested in using a sick woman to keep her from her children. It is shameful

    dialogueireland, you said above
“This post had nothing to do with the Sunday World, and your attempts to drag us into that newspaper”

    However,
the ‘thread’ has everything to do with the sunday world as the whole furore came about because of an article in the sunday world which you have quoted above as part of the thread. This woman, Mary, says its not the truth (what was in the sw article) and you seem determined to pull her through the mire in public. I am sure that Fr McGinnity does not read blogs so appealing to him here is only a sensational attempt to discuss the plight of this family and to discredit the hop, Mrs G and FMG.

I don’t believe that you have turned into a good guy. Maybe others do. To them I would say, don’t be fooled

We know that you find it difficult to distinguish between organisations which oppose the HofP.
This post had nothing to do with the Sunday World, and your attempts to drag us into that newspaper shows that you see anyone that disagrees with you as if they were one entity. This indicates a heavy conspiracy type mindset that sees the SW under every bed.
I find it remarkable that you find my writing about trying to reconcile the family problematic?
Also claiming that we were bringing the family into the public domain when you guys published a formal letter from Mary and forced her into the public domain. She has had surgery so that must have put her under terrible stress. I can’t believe that any doctor or solicitor would have allowed their patient or client to take part in the exercise. No I was specifically asked by the son and daughter to intervene.
I specifically suggested a Cistercian monk Eoin Waldren as the contact point and suggested Fr McGinnity might make contact with him. This was for the obvious reason that I would be viewed as not being independent. DI does not = SW. We agree with their mission of following the money trail and believe it is laughable that you claim that showing Christina’s life of luxury is stalking. No you are a group of fanatical devotees who come on here and stalk DI, people like Angie, and claim she is actually part of DI. You are so ego driven that you do not see that she is mainly focused on Tony Quinn, but also on Buddhism or any abusive form of human manipulation. Just look through the other groups. Get a life.
You use abusive language and threats. Which brings me to this……….

Because it is now well known how you shouted and bullied Betty Morrisey with your ‘cult busting’ tactics.

First of all I have never met this person in my life and I am going to give you a short period of grace to review your defamatory claim.
I was part of a Prime Time documentary where Miriam O’Callaghan was obviously appalled by what happened to this family. I believe that one or both are now deceased?

  57. This is part of Gallagher’s message, in inverted commas; she claims she received it from Jesus for July 16th & July 25th 2013, copied from her blog:

“There are some of you here today who do not want to open your hearts but you desire to make your own false judgement of Me and of My vessel (Jesus uses the word ‘vessel’ to refer to Christina) whom I have chosen for your sake. So many have great disrespect for her and condemn her just as the sinners condemned Me.”

Notice how she includes herself in the ‘message’. The ‘message’ compares people’s judgement of her as being the same as when they judged Jesus; it is spiritual self-aggrandisement on her part.

“If you could only realise the road and the life I have chosen for my vessel, you would not make the same condemnation of her as was made of Me: you would pray much for her to fulfill this mission I have given her – which is all for you’re your benefit.”

She claims to be chosen by Jesus and again the comparison.

“I want you, through an open heart, to receive My truth and live it. The day is fast approaching when you will need My wisdom and guidance through My vessel.”

She repeats how important her role is.

“Today there are some of you here whose ears are closed to truth. I say to you, My people how long are you going to reject My laws? My law is the same law as that of God My Father.”

“My Mother’s House is a house of prayer, called for by Me but through My Mother. Some of you will witness great signs at this House. It will be protected from the onslaught of evil. Soldiers will arrive on your island of Ireland and devour many. They will kill and suppress many people. Those soldiers will be people who do not know Me: their hearts are full of hate and their minds think only of murder. Prepare yourselves now and listen to the guidance I give you through this vessel I have chosen for your times. Protect her and respect her. Let your tongue not condemn you for the evil words you speak about her which you know are untrue.”

According to Gallagher it seems that Ireland will be invaded and the only safe place to be is in the H of P. The soldiers will “devour many”? Does she mean, eat them? Throughout the ‘message’ she reiterates how important she is to the cause of saving souls.”

“Your country made its choice for gain and made welcome what will destroy your country and many people. Do not make the same mistake again.”

That is huge coming from her. I presume she is referring to the period of the Celtic tiger and it is around the same period she made millions from people who attended the H of P.

“I want you to look around you. See all that My Mother called you to as She begged your response over these many years – only to be ignored by many. So many of you kept running around to find what others had to say while all the time your hearts were closed in response to My Mother but mostly open to the evil attacks. If you possessed My wisdom. You would know and live truth.

On this special day which is marked in Heaven, listen and respond.”

She takes the opportunity to scold the ‘faithful’ for not listening to her and responding to the begging. She also considers her ‘work’ so important that it is “marked in Heaven”.

“Those of you who have helped this work and My dear vessel, I will welcome you in My Father’s House. You will have the grace of repentance before death. As your soul departs from your body, it will be led into the atriums of Eternity in Life with Me.”

It seems she believes that once she repents before her death she will live in heaven for eternity. Note how easy some believe that confession is sufficient to forgive the greedy self-seeking con artist. Do they not believe in purgatory in the H of P?

“There are many bad things coming to your world very soon. I tell you, prepare now. Open your hearts, starting today. Denounce what you hear and know is wrong. Offer it to Me and pray. Soon the temptress of all lies will be bound and cast into her rightful place* It is I who broke the chains of death that held humanity bound. I set all free and gave life unto all. It is your choice to live in that life or die in darkness and evil.”

Again there is the frightening prospect of “many bad things coming to your world”. Of course, Gallagher feels the need to protect herself against people who talk and report about how she has made her millions and reminds the H of P members that they are evil and should not listen to them.

“Soon the temptress of all lies will be bound and cast into her rightful place*”. “Reject the temptation that will try very hard to seduce you and try to convince you of this Work not being of Me.”

This type of ‘preaching’ would cause the anger that is evident from the H of P members who “protect her” as advised in her messages.

“Take heart, My people, on this special day. Decide to change your life for truth. Turn away from darkness and death. Listen to My guidance and treasure My vessel and My brother who has been chosen to be by her side all these years.”

She has elevated herself and McGinnity and asks those listening to “treasure” them. They both beggar belief!

I am not surprised the Catholic Church rejected her ‘messages’. She is some operator!!!!!!

Are you for real!!!! The lowest tabloid out there, paying more attention to tales of crime, sex and lies than to serious matter. Dragging their mother’s name through the gutter was a ‘cry for help’?

You said: ‘it is clearly the case that Mary’s going to the HofP is the cause of the family break down’

Mary’s words on this are different. She says “My going to the House of Prayer is not a reason for any dispute in my family.”

You said: ‘Has she ever given any money….’
    ————————————
The article implied that she had given to the HoP and her statement clarifies this. I feel certain she will have no problem answering your further probe.

You said ‘may I ask Mary did she consult with her own solicitor…..’
    —————————————
To play this out in public as you are doing is in true SW and DI style and serves to drag this woman further into the gutter. I feel so sorry for this woman’s family that you arrived on their doorstep, because it is now well known how you shouted and bullied Betty Morrisey with your ‘cult busting’ tactics. I have heard too that you pride yourself being able to break a person in just a few hours.

I hope and pray that this family finds reconciliation but I know they will not find it through SW or DI who are only interested in sensational headlines in their hate-campaign against the Hop, Cg and FrmG.
