Fr Gerard McGinnity of the House of Prayer in his own words….

Part One Biography: http://www.gerardmcginnity.info/index.html#Author

Many people do not know the background to events which shaped
Fr Gerard McGinnity so as a means to provide public education we are publishing the substantial biography and background published on Christina Gallagher’s site. We will break it into different sections for clarity.

mgpic

We will make a full commentary on the section which is connected around his involvement with the House of Prayer. In the earlier section s you will note a clear description of his earlier life with reference to sources, but after his involvement with Christina this shanges and there are no references of any consequence. That having been said, we should say that the references seem out of sequence and do not not reference the points being made?
In other words the earlier academic seems to be subverted by  a cultist takeover by Christina Gallagher.

Very Reverend Dr Gerard McGinnity, author and parish priest is best known as ‘whistleblower’ of the sex abuse scandal at Maynooth, Ireland’s national seminary in 1984.

Biography

Fr Gerard McGinnity, the former Dean of St Patrick’s College Maynooth, was born on April 5th 1947, in Derrynoose, Co Armagh. (1)

He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Armagh in 1972. He was appointed Junior Dean of St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Ireland’s national seminary, in 1973 and Senior Dean in 1978 at the age of 32, decades younger than previous holders of the post.

He acted as secretary to the Episcopal Commission for Seminary Training while in this post.

During the same period he also edited the Liturgical Calendar for Ireland.

Fr McGinnity holds a Doctorate in Patristic Theology (2) having completed his doctoral thesis on the writings of St Ambrose in 1981. (3)

The footnotes attached to this article are totally out of sequence and totally confuse the reader. The House of Prayer has a major editing job to do in regard to the evidence presented.

The house of Prayer representative claimed that because I was seeking verification of material on his and the HofP web site I was involved in a hate campaign.

Perhaps you are blinded by hate but you really should get your facts right.

I notice the HoP website links to http://www.gerardmcginnity.info Here without trouble I found the quote “…He has a doctorate, in Patristics from the University of Dublin.”

Having researched this further I have had confirmation from the University of Dublin (TCD) that he obtained the doctorate in 1982 not 1981 as on the web site. One hopes that those responsible for the site might now correct the footnotes. This information was on the side bar of his biography and not in the body of the article.

Author, Dr Gerard McGinnity was ordained to the priesthood in 1972. He has a doctorate, in Patristics from the University of Dublin.

Author    McGinnity, Gerard.

Title     Ambrose of Milan philosopher, poet, preacher and politician : a study of the originality of Ambrose of Milan / Gerard McGinnity.

Publication Info.    1982.

Thesis (Ph.D.) — Trinity College Dublin.

Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland) Dissertations.

Ph.D. thesis Trinity College Dublin.

Subject Religion, Ph.D.

Some believe Gerard McGinnity is suffering from a mental illness. There is no evidence in fact to the contrary:

In an attempt to deflect from the seriousness of the concerns reported about Mgr Ledwith, sources attempted to discredit Fr McGinnity while on sabbatical implying that “his health broke down”. The Irish Times reported a senior Church figure had repeated to them that Fr McGinnity had a “nervous breakdown”. Hearing this for the first time in July 2002, Fr McGinnity was “shocked at the question, but far more shocked to hear that this particular rumour had been maliciously circulating about him for 18 years.” (13) At the request of The Irish Times, he secured a letter from his longstanding personal physician formally refuting these claims. According to his doctors, throughout his lifetime “there has been absolutely no record of ‘psychological or mental problems’ where Father McGinnity is concerned.” (13)

13) Patsy McGarry “Letter from priest’s doctor say there has been ‘no record of psychological or mental problems” The Irish Times 27 July 2002 (This footnote is correct.)

People confuse a person being under influence as a sign that they are suffering from a mental illness.

No Fr McGinnity is absolutely mentally ok, he is just under the influence of Christina.
This section from our web site will explain how this happens.

It is my intention to visit the Berkeley Library to read his thesis and compare his thought processes with his current status.

We all know, FrMG is the spiritual director of CG and as a highly educated man in his field he has made statements which have appeared in the media about his experience and findings in his capacity of spiritual director of CG and of his belief in the phenomena.

dialogueireland siad : “you have footnotes which are not just out of sequence….”
You seem fixated with anyone speaking here in support of the HoP as – THE HoP itself – commenting. Anyway, footnotes being out of sequence is a very minor point and in no way provides the missing evidence for your claims against the HoP and FMG and CG.

dialogueireland siad : “there is no reference anywhere as to where he obtained his doctorate”
I don’t know what you are reading. Perhaps you are blinded by hate but you really should get your facts right. I’m sure Mrs Loughman’s solicitors will be interested in this renewed attempt at defamation of another individual !!! don’t you think? I notice the HoP website links to http://www.gerardmcginnity.info Here without trouble I found the quote “…He has a doctorate, in Patrisics from the University of Dublin.”

dialogueireland siad : “If he presented this for peer review he would be sent back to start again.”
Again it states clearly that this biography has been written by others, not by FrMG. You are trying to discredit a man who is highly educated and is to this day held in high regard within the Church. The pilgrims who go to the HoP who know him (unlike you) have confirmed he is a humble and pious priest, a man of great intelligence and good humour.

dialogueireland siad : “For our readers you might be interested in how our trolls operate:IP Location…”
Anyone who supports the HoP on this blog is described as a troll. Given your display of hatred, your tendancy to defamation of anyone who does not hold your viewpoint, what makes you think anyone would reveal their personal details to you? Are you kidding? If you want a reason why I don’t give you my personal details it is because you are untrustworthy and malicious dialogueireland. Thinking that I am the only person on here supporting the HoP is delusional.

this comment is in response to the misleading addition by dialogueireland to the above ‘and a hip hip horrayyy!!!’ comment on March 18, 2014 at 11:13 pm in which dialogueireland attempts to discredit the good name of FrMG. This blog is becoming a mess!

Your critique on this biography really doesn’t warrant a reply which is probably why you didn’t get one.

I disagree with you on everything you say, the sources quoted are indeed relevant and so what if the references are in the wrong order! You are peddling in scraps here DI. You have failed to produce a single shred of evidence to uphold your claims about the HofP, MrsGallagher or FrMGinnity.

    Dr Gerard McGinnity

    Biography

Fr Gerard McGinnity, the former Dean of St Patrick’s College Maynooth, was born on April 5th 1947, in Derrynoose, Co Armagh. (1)
    Has no connection?

    (1) Patsy McGarry “Letter from priest’s doctors say there has been ‘no record of psychological or mental problems’ The Irish Times – July 27 2002

This is the same as (13?)

He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Armagh in 1972. He was appointed Junior Dean of St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Ireland’s national seminary, in 1973 and Senior Dean in 1978 at the age of 32, decades younger than previous holders of the post.

On the House of Prayer web site they claim that Gerard McGinnity has a doctorate in Patristic Theology (2)

    (2) Francis Mutsuo Fukushima “Akita: Mother of God as CoRedemptrix Modern Miracles of Holy Eucharist” Queenship Publishing 1994

Note again the reference is not at all relevant.

having completed his doctoral thesis on the writings of St Ambrose in 1981. (3)

DI has raised this before, but the foot notes do not all seem to be in sequence. They need to be edited for the sake of clarity. Currently we have no evidence concerning Fr McGinnity’s Phd. Where did he obtain this doctorate? Which university granted it and where can his thesis be read? He is claiming to be be a Dr so we must see the evidence as this biography is completely misleading. I raised this before and if this is not corrected asap will publish a full post on this.blockquote>

    (3) Patsy McGarry “Seminarians dismissed by bishops took case to dean” The Irish Times – 5 June 2002

Note again the reference is not at all relevant.

You will note that since he became involved with Christina he a has done no research and has not added to the theological discipline at all. Why is this the case?

The House of Prayer uses as its authority figure someone who is academically trained and whose authority should be taken seriously aa a priest from the Diocese of Armagh. You claim on your web site that he holds a doctorate. As evidence you have footnotes which are not just out of sequence there is no reference anywhere as to where he obtained his doctorate and where it can be studied. You can’t have it both ways he has these qualifications or he does not. If he presented this for peer review he would be sent back to start again.

……the sources quoted are indeed relevant and so what if the references are in the wrong order!

Please do yourself and a favour they are not just in the wrong order but do not exist at all. It is clear you have no idea about academic qualifications.
