Quinn was Clontarf Castle again for his seminar.
The place was booked for around 600 but in fact only about 250 showed up. The days that Quinn’s followers were seen at the Westbury or the Four seasons is over. From inside sources it looks like only €80 was spent in the hotel.
So folks brought their own food and water to go to this lovely hotel. A sign not of success but of people who are likely in a pretty poor financial shape. As usual Quinn and now Susan Morrice and others do not come in through the front door. You have the very strange sight of the security and Conference staff protecting a paranoid Messiah Quinn from whom? These guys are totally bored out of their minds as Quinn and his inner core come in through the kitchens or from the tradesmen entrance. It seems like Susan Morrice also has to exit in a similar manner as there was no sign of her. She is in town for a big conference on oil as reported last week.
Why the Clontarf Castle?
Before the issues of the oil company and before DI began to raise questions about Quinn he would hold his meetings at the RDS. At the peak he would have had 1500 coming to his seminars and at the one in January 2009 it was reported by a person who got in there were about 800 persons present. So is move is to conceal his declining membership and the gradual recognition that what he represents is a major scam. He does not have the qualifications he claims. In fact he represents one big pyramid scheme which has already lasted 42 years. Smaller venue, but it has some problems which his last venue after the RDS, the Helix did not have. The can’t close down every thing so the public have a very good sense of what the followers are up to. We only paid a visit at the end by which time people were sitting in this event from 5- 7 hours with the windows closed and in artificial light as the curtains were closed.
Talk about keeping people in the dark!
See the more controlled environment of the RDS where the exits and approach can be totally cut off.
First at the hotel he can’t start patrolling the hotel and stopping people from
sitting where they like, going to the bar or restaurant or walking around the grounds. We were minding our own business talking to bemused residents who could not work out who these people were. We were within 5 metres of the entrance to the Seminar.
Some quite elderly folks were wearing knee length mini shirts, others looked like they could easily have easily have been going on a pilgrimage to Knock. Then the wannabe reach Educoists not familiar with the days of Quinn the Messiah were still playing the wealth. Then a number of women who one had the feeling they were going to a night club? Visitors and staff did not know what to make of this. By the way you could not find nicer people, just they do not understand that they are under such influence it all appears quite normal. They all had their not book and pens to take notes like in the old days before smart phones. One Hurling fan spoke about being afraid to leave the room as she wanted to watch the match between Cork and Clare. Then there was Patricia Fitzpatrick and Emma her daughter who took about an hour to appear after the conclusion at 6PM.
Patricia was involved in campaigns in support of Quinn and Morrice when the shareholders were trying to find out what had happened to their shareholdings!
Earlier this year we published a photograph of the Taoiseach with Morrice and Fitzpatrick where the Taoiseach is holding a copy of the book written by Emma indicating that Quinn was the Magician who had discovered the oil and led to its exploration!
The Taoiseach does not seem to know how this photograph was taken. Was it before he assumed office and what context did it happen?
Finally there was the old team of Martin and Margaret Forde who had spent the two days earlier at the jobs fair at Croke Park. They are wheeled out as a couple for these events and they are great actors.
