Statement of The Rt. Revd. Alan Winton Bishop of Thetford on ministry of Willi Stewart.
Dear Mike,
Thank you for sending the various letters, e-mails and notes for our attention.
We complied fully with our rigorous safeguarding procedures in appointing Willi Steward to the Chet Valley Benefice. We always take any safeguarding information we receive seriously and the material you have sent has been reviewed by our safeguarding officer and the diocesan bishop. Safeguarding issues are, in any case, regularly reviewed with all our clergy in the course of the oversight exercised by the bishops of the diocese.
With all good wishes
+ Alan

Dear Bishop Alan,
First may I thank you for the courtesy with which you accepted my call. Also may I commend you for your openness in responding to my enquiry.…..
I am going to copy in one of my colleagues from DI who just happens to be a member of the Church of Ireland. As I said, I am going to attach my whole file on this subject for you to study. If you need any clarification do not hesitate to contact me.
Because Willi was found guilty in a criminal trial, the name of the person is in the public domain. My role originally was to support the family, but I had advised the Archbishop of Dublin and the Bishop of Cashel that in the event of Willi entering ministry I would be duty bound to report the verdict of the court as it got no publicity here.
Regards

1. What was well done Paul Carley?
2. What did he have covered?
3. How could he have it covered when he did not know?
4. focus on the real issue?
Also watch this space
“Safeguarding issues are, in any case, regularly reviewed with all our clergy in the course of the oversight exercised by the bishops of the diocese.”
This means the Bishop didnt have it covered, otherwise what is he referring to?
